Due to the upcoming winter ice storm and blizzard-like conditions, all nonessential City of West Fargo offices and buildings will be closed Thursday, March 14.
Working together, West Fargo Commission President Bernie Dardis and City of Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney made this joint decision to protect residents and City staff members. Snow plowing services will continue and public safety agencies will be in full operation to protect and serve the residents of Fargo and West Fargo.
This closure includes West Fargo City Hall and the West Fargo Police Department lobby at 800 Fourth Ave. E., West Fargo Public Works at 810 12th Ave. NW, and Sanitation Department at 117 Eighth St. W. and Transfer Station at 1620 Main Ave. W. The West Fargo Public Library will also be closed. The Citizens Police Academy session scheduled for Thursday evening is also canceled.
There will be no residential trash and recycling collection Thursday. Thursday’s and Friday’s garbage will be collected Friday. Thursday’s recycling will be collected Friday and Friday’s recycling will be collected Saturday.
MATBUS fixed routes and MAT Paratransit will not be offered March 14 and the Ground Transportation Center (GTC) in Downtown Fargo will be closed. Fargo Cass Public Health will be closed Thursday. This includes all services, including WIC, clinic services and immunizations.
With the major snow event expected, city officials would also like to encourage residents to remain off the roads if possible. They are also stressing the importance of moving all vehicles off city streets beginning at 10 p.m. Wednesday and continuing through 6 a.m. Saturday. This will ensure efficient and effective snow removal operations.
