[ARCHIVED] West side of Sheyenne St. and 19th Ave. W. intersection closed Aug. 10-31

West side of 19th Ave. W. and Sheyenne St. closure notice

On Friday, Aug. 10, contractors on the Sheyenne Street segment 1 project received approval to close the Sheyenne Street and 19th Avenue W. intersection. This closure will allow crews to quickly reconstruct the intersection and regain time on the project that was delayed due to utility coordination issues.

The closure is expected to last approximately three weeks, depending on weather or other unforeseen delays. During the closure, please utilize Seventh Street W. or 10th Street W. to access 13th Avenue W. to reach Sheyenne Street. The contractor has indicated there will be no further closures of 19th Avenue W. for this project once the intersection is reopened.

The decision to close the intersection was made quickly and unfortunately, did not provide adequate time to communicate to affected residents in the area. The City of West Fargo would like to apologize to these residents for the confusion, frustration and delays it created for their morning commute. Our goal is to deliver a brand new road to the residents of West Fargo that increases safety and efficiency with the least amount of frustrations possible. This closure did not follow our standard practice for communicating to residents to minimize frustration and we will endeavor to ensure it is not a repeated issue.

If you have any additional concerns or questions about this project, please contact us at publicworks@westfargond.gov or 701-433-5400. Again, we apologize for this incident and hope to deliver a new road to you as quickly and safely as possible.
