The City of West Fargo Special Assessment Commission will hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 24, in the Commission Chambers of West Fargo City Hall. During this meeting, the Special Assessment Commission will review the following projects that are being wholly or partially funded through special assessments:

  • District No. 1321 – The Wilds 11th Addition
  • District No. 1322 – Eaglewood 7th Addition
  • District No. 1323 – Brooks Harbor 9th Addition
  • District No. 1325 – Oak Ridge 18th Addition
  • District No. 1329 – Eagle Run 9th Addition
  • District No. 2250 – Sheyenne Street Reconstruction from Beaton Drive to 40th Avenue
  • District No. 2254 – Eagle Ridge Plaza 6th Addition
  • District No. 4063 – Storm Sewer Improvements for The Wilds South

During this meeting, the Special Assessment Commission will meet with City of West Fargo staff to determine the allocation of special assessments. Information about these projects, including improvement district maps, can be found on the Special Assessment project page. Following this meeting, the Special Assessment Commission will publish the list of proposed special assessments along with the time and date of a Special Assessment Commission public hearing in the legal section of The Forum

Property owners in the improvement district have the opportunity to object to the proposed assessments in two ways. They may submit the objection in writing to Tina Fisk, City Administrator (tina.fisk@westfargond.gov or Attn: Special Assessment Objection, 800 Fourth Ave. E., Suite 1, West Fargo, ND 58078). Or, they may appear in person at the Special Assessment Commission public hearing.

During the public hearing before the Special Assessment Commission, impacted property owners may attend and present their objection. Based on these objections, or new information presented at the public hearing, the Special Assessment Commission may alter the assessment allocations or confirm the list as it was published.

After this proceeding, a notice of confirmation and advertising of a West Fargo City Commission public hearing and appeal opportunity will be published in the legal section of The Forum. Individuals with property within the special assessment district who object to the allocations will have an opportunity to file a written appeal. Please note that only those property owners who submit a written appeal are also able to present their appeal during the West Fargo City Commission public hearing on the matter.

At the conclusion of the public hearing, the West Fargo City Commission may determine if additional steps are required to adjust the special assessment allocation, or confirm the special assessment list as presented. If a landowner disagrees with the decision of the West Fargo City Commission, they may appeal to Cass County district court. Following the confirmation of the special assessment list, the amount due can be paid without interest for 10 days. After 10 days, the balance due is subject to interest.
