[ARCHIVED] City of West Fargo to hold north Sheyenne Street urban reconstruction kickoff public meeting

Public Meeting

The City of West Fargo will host a public meeting 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, March 15, to provide updates and information on the north Sheyenne Street urban reconstruction project that is expected to begin around March 22, 2021. This reconstruction project will replace aging infrastructure and add streetscaping to support The Yards on Sheyenne downtown district.

The meeting will include a presentation to provide information about the project schedule, construction road closures and detours, and an opportunity for guests to ask questions. The meeting will include a virtual option to attend and a recording will be made available after the event. This information is available on the calendar located at www.westfargond.gov

Construction on this project will occur in three phases and is expected to last through early November. The first phase will impact Sheyenne Street from north of Seventh Avenue to Fourth Avenue.

The most recent estimated project cost of $10.45 million was approved Dec. 7, 2020, when the city commission awarded bids for construction.  The infrastructure replacement has a funding plan that includes capital improvement sales tax, water and sewer utility fee revenues, Prairie Dog Funds provided through a 2019 allocation from the North Dakota legislature, and special assessments which will account for about 27% of total funds. Approximately 65% of the streetscaping portion will be funded by a North Dakota Department of Transportation grant, and the remainder will use economic development sales tax funds.
