[ARCHIVED] City of West Fargo reschedules annual Art Social to April 15

Art Social

The City of West Fargo and West Fargo Public Art Advisory Committee have rescheduled the annual Art Social from Feb. 24 to 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021. The event provides an opportunity for the community to connect and celebrate local art. The application for local artists to submit pieces for the show has also been extended.

The theme for this year is a retrospective on the personal and public events of 2020. Artists should explore this theme through the medium of their choosing to demonstrate lessons learned from 2020 that will positively affect the future.

Artists selection will be a two-step process. First, the West Fargo Public Art Advisory Committee will review all submissions and create a list of recommendations, which will then go to City of West Fargo representatives for final approval. Selection criteria will include artistic merit as evidenced by the submittal materials, execution of the theme, and maintaining a variety of mediums for the event. Submission materials should include an artwork description with the artist’s name, artwork title, artwork medium and dimensions. It should also include a visual of the completed or initial work, artist statement regarding the work and anticipated installation needs. For more information, visit https://www.westfargond.gov/1077/Public-Art-Advisory-Committee.

Art submissions are due by 5 p.m., Friday, March 19, by email to westfargo.events@westfargond.gov. Selected artists will receive notification by Wednesday, March 24, 2021, and should be ready for installation by Thursday, April 8, and available to attend the Art Social. Interested artists with questions can also contact westfargo.events@westfargond.gov for more information.

The Art Social will take place 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in the Grand Foyer of West Fargo City Hall located at 800 Fourth Ave. E, and will remain in the Grand Foyer for public viewing until Thursday, April 22. The City of West Fargo will release updates and an alternative plan if COVID-19 conditions prohibit the event from safely occurring.
