About the Department
Background
The West Fargo Police Department has grown from three officers and two squad cars in 1968 to a current team of 65 hard-working members. The department has helped the population of West Fargo grow from 5,000 citizens to approximately 38,626.Employees of the West Fargo Police Department pride themselves on ethical and professional principles. The department is proud of what they do and whom they serve.
Mission Statement
The mission of the West Fargo Police Department is to protect life and property in a highly effective and efficient manner and to engage the community in a collaborative crime prevention program. To accomplish this mission, we will utilize organizational and problem-solving strategies and develop police-community partnerships to address the causes of crime and social disorder.-
Annual Reports
Each year, the West Fargo Police Department provides a report to the Mayor and City Commission. This report contains statistics and other notable description of the activities and accomplishments of the past year.

Lobby Hours
The lobby is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding holidays starting June 1, 2022.
Fingerprinting Hours
Fingerprint services are available by appointment only.

Offender Registration Hours
Offender registration is available 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Car Seat Safety
Child passenger safety technicians are available 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday by appointment only. Please call the police department at 701-515-5500 during business hours to see if a technician is available to answer your questions. Car seat safety checks are also available through the Sanford Safety Shop. To register, call (701) 234-7233.
Patrol Hours
Patrol officers are on duty 24 hours 7 days a week, including holidays.
