Bulky Item Collection

Residents may utilize curbside pickup for a variety of bulky, large items that do not fit in a standard garbage cart. 

The changes below take effect July 1, 2024.

How to schedule bulky item collection?

Bulky item collection will need to be scheduled through the completion of this online form (coming soon) or by calling the Sanitation Division at 701-515-5400. 

Additional pickups may be scheduled by visiting City Hall (800 4th Ave. E.). 

What items are collected?

  • Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Box springs

Specialty items that are collected with an additional fee:

  • Major appliances
    • Including snow blowers and lawnmowers
    • Exercise equipment
    • Grills
  • Automotive tires

What items are not collected? 

  • Excess bagged residential trash 
  • Trampolines
  • Building materials including: 
    • Lumber/Pallets
    • Plywood
    • Boards
    • Planks
    • Panels
    • Drywall
    • Decking
    • Large carpet remnants
    • Debris from renovations and remodeling
    • Landscape timbers
    • Pools
    • Fencing
  • Household hazardous materials* including:
    • Paints, thinners, stains and varnish
    • Drain and oven cleaner
    • Fertilizer and weed/insect cleaners
    • Automotive fluids
    • Poisons
    • Older fluorescent ballasts
    • Aerosol cans with contents remaining
    • Computers, monitors, printers, cellular phones and televisions
    • Mercury thermostat
    • Oil filters
    • Any mercury containing devices
      • *Please ensure that all Household Hazardous Waste items are labeled clearly and take items to Fargo's Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 606 43 1/2 Street N. It is free of charge and open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon. For questions, call 701-281-8915.
  • Medical waste including unused/unwanted medicines and prescription drugs.
    • This also includes sharps (syringes, lancets), thermometers, glass, home based care or durable medical equipment supplies, and pharmacy inventory.
