Identify an Ash Tree or Report Suspected EAB Infestation

Ash trees are susceptible to attack by the emerald ash borer (EAB), a non-native insect.

The first step in determining if a tree has been infested with EAB is to make certain that it is an ash tree. In North Dakota, green ash is extremely common in native woodlands, shelterbelts and urban forests. In West Fargo ash trees may be found in boulevards.

Use the tree finder to determine if your boulevard tree is an ash, and use the photos below to help identify other trees on your property.

If you believe you have a diseased tree, complete the Tree Diagnosis Form and a member of the Forestry Department will contact you to come inspect your tree.
