COVID-19 Protocols

Effective Friday, Nov. 6, the West Fargo Public Library is closed to walk-in traffic. Patrons looking to access the library can head to our schedule a visit site to sign up for an appointment. The library is also again offering curbside pickup service. These are proactive changes to library services due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Cass County. The library will operate with the service model outlined below until further notice. 

Library access by appointment only

Effective Friday, Nov. 6, library access is restricted to those who have an appointment only. Patrons can schedule an appointment online on our schedule a visit site ( Appointment slots are 30 minutes long. During a scheduled visit, patrons are welcome to use any of the currently offered services, including computers. 

Curbside Pickup

The West Fargo Public Library will also offer curbside pickup beginning Friday, Nov. 6. To use the curbside pickup service, guests can place a request for items using the online library catalog, emailing or calling (701) -551-8940. Patrons are notified when their hold is ready and should call the library when they arrive to pick up their items. More details on curbside pickup procedures are available at


Following Cass County's move to a High (Orange) Risk Level on Oct. 16, 2020, the West Fargo Public Library has implemented the following additional measures, with regard to events and programs: 

The West Fargo Public Library will no longer host any in-person, indoor events. Events will now either take place virtually or outdoors, as weather permits. Patrons can view our website calendar or Facebook page to stay up-to-date on event changes. For all outdoor events, masks will continue to be encouraged and social distancing measures will be in place.  


Effective Friday, Nov. 6, the library will operate with these modified hours: 

  • Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
  • Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • The library is closed on Sundays.  

Additional Protocols

While visiting the library, patrons are encouraged to wear face coverings, sanitize frequently, help maintain the cleanliness of the library, and follow social distancing protocols as defined by the CDC. To help encourage this, disposable masks are available to patrons upon entering the building for their appointment. Sanitation stations are available throughout the library and wipes are available for patrons using tables and computer areas.

Additionally, library furniture has been rearranged and there is limited seating available. Floor markings are placed throughout the library to help patrons keep 6 feet of distance from each other. The library is not taking reservations for meeting rooms until further notice. Using appointments will help staff monitor the building’s capacity and facilitate social distancing between patrons. 

Computer access is limited throughout the library to help facilitate social distancing as well. Laptops are available for in-library use only for library cardholders. Patrons can also bring their own devices and use the library’s free public Wi-Fi during their appointment. Public Wi-Fi is also now available in the parking lot.

To further accommodate social distancing, plexiglass has been installed at the service desk and access to library staff may be limited at times. Patrons are encouraged to check out items using the library’s self-checkout machine. 

The West Fargo Public Library continues to work closely with fellow City of West Fargo departments to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19 and to devise plans for response that are in the best interest of public safety while continuing to provide public services.

The West Fargo Public Library encourages patrons to join the library and City of West Fargo in following the guidelines of Fargo Cass Public Health, North Dakota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help limit the spread of coronavirus.
